The brief
A sixtieth birthday, marked with two bottles. The pack had to be personal enough to read as a portrait of one particular man, and finished well enough to pass for a top-shelf release rather than a novelty gift.
The mark
A hand-set script against a hard 60
Benjy runs in script; the 60 stands square and refuses to be cursive. Between them strides a figure — equal parts toast and trademark. It works foiled at 8 mm on a neck label and engraved at 60 mm on a box plaque, which is the whole test.
The move
Two bottle shapes, one band
A whiskey decanter and a wine bottle share nothing structurally — different shoulders, different label heights, different curvature. So the system lives in a band rather than a shape: a leopard-print sash that angles across the whiskey and sits square on the wine. Gold foil marks the occasion; near-black plum and cream stop it ever reading as novelty.

The pair, side by side
Angled on the left, square on the right, same band. Set them together and they're obviously a set; set them apart and each still stands on its own shelf.

The gift box
Wrapped rigid board with mitred corners and a foiled plaque. The leopard band wraps the lid edge so the box is recognisable closed, on a table, from across a room — which is the only way anyone ever sees it.
